Is this where all the people who dig smart people are at?
<splash splash splash>
I thought guys just dug really hot women... I mean, at least until they've met too many psychos...
<splash splash splash>
So, are you guys gonna tell me, there are guys out there who have done all that, and are bored now with even average ladies?
I mean, I've heard of it, but I can't say I've seen it very much. Can't even think of one of these guys off-hand...
<splash splash>
Maybe Rendall, but I haven't met him in person, and I haven't asked him, so I can't say for sure.

Re: Ah, darn. Nobody seems to post here, at least not very much...
Tue, December 26, 2006 - 9:26 PMWell, if I look at the subject matter of this tribe...and then the related tribe links on the side
99th percentile
Well-hung Minds
Sizzzling Hot & Brilliant Smart
one might assume that all the sexy Mensa members are too consumed with all their precious deep thoughts and can't manage to refine their social skills to ratchet up something resembling a conversation
in a manner similar to
All the Barbie & Biff Burners parading around Tribe consumed with their own brand of narcissism...affecting some appropriated brand of spirituality that consumes all of their precious attention...
Or maybe the quart of egg nog and chocolate is futzing with my perceptions...
'scuse me while I go write a penetrating, world altering philosophical novel in my pink thong and feather boa while picking chocolate and BRC dust from my navel
:P

Wed, December 27, 2006 - 7:18 AMI'll jump in the hot tub with you.
It is not a choice between hot and smart. Intelligence IS hot.
For those of us who tend toward long term friendships, we appreciate that smarts age better than some other aspects one might be attracted to.
So how do we put a fire under this tribe?

Re: Ah, darn. Nobody seems to post here, at least not very much...
Fri, January 5, 2007 - 6:29 PMYou can't "Light a fire" under a tribe, it doesn't work, what you can do is agree to start at least two new topics which warrant discussion, and encourage others to do the same.
that unlike trying to enlist others to do what any of the existing members could simply choose to do seems to actually work.
I know this because I moderate a private invitation only tribe called Patasapiens which emphasizes dynamic intelligent conversation and creative thinking, and even those folks get set in their ways…and they know better.
It seems like the board has plenty of members…we just need for them to post something…I don’t get the aversion really.

Re: Ah, darn. Nobody seems to post here, at least not very much...

A few years ago, when I first started this tribe, I posted or responded to posts everyday. Then I dealt with a brief housing crisis during which I had no way to access the internet. When I returned, I discovered two things, both to my great consternation. That Tribe.net had been taken over by uber-nazi red-wingers who were banning all that had made Tribe worthwhile and, that no one was active in this tribe in my absence. I shared my personal outrage but received very little response. I soon became disenfranchised with Tribe in general, and have since been making sporatic visits just to check on the things I still care about, like the people of this tribe. I always respond when others post; I'm just not as quick to start threads anymore. I promise you this though: Help me bring back the fun and flirt-friendly frollicking, and I shall make my presence known more often.
In the meantime, read some of the earliest topics. A little grave-digging might be warrented in this case.

We are programmed to be that way, yes, but I have learned that a woman with a good mind will keep her intelligence with her far longer than a beautiful woman will keep her good looks.
So do I want a short-term investment or a long-term investment?
Hmm... can I have both? -

Re: Ah, darn. Nobody seems to post here, at least not very much...
Sun, May 6, 2007 - 10:28 AMI have found that beauty is such a complex thing that to really try to separate out intelligence, creativity, and kindness from physical appearance just doesn't even work for me anymore. The older I get, the more times I've experienced starting a conversation with someone I'm not immediately, physically, attracted to, only to find that an hour into it and I have a huge crush; then, every time I see her (sorry guys) I think she's gorgeous. So, everything is so intertwined, I'm not sure how to separate it, and really, I hope I never can.

By changing your definitions of both--that would make it easier, I'm guessing.
