According to this article, not only has the US Air Force Research Laboratory made environmentally-friendly batteries that provide continuous power for 30 years possible, they could be commercially available in 2-3 years.

There were quite a few links about this when I googled the subject, so I guess it's no hoax. Could someone with a better head for tech than I have weigh in on the subject? If this is for real, I suspect the retail price will be prohibitive at first but still.. the applications in other fields are staggering. What field couldn't be furthered by a self-sustaining power supply with a lifespan measured in decades?

Interesting - not sure I agree with all of it, but some points in this article were thoughtful...

I especially thought the polygamous societies being uniformly more violent was amazing... and dovetails with the radio bit I heard recently (on 'The World') about how phone porn is so prevalent in Middle Eastern societies, where opposite sexes cannot even touch before marriage, dowries are high, and men are convinced they will never get married (or have sex...)

it seems there's some sort of correlation between "smart" people [by that i don't mean encyclopedia smart knowing the gross export budget of lithuiania or understanding the theory of relativity but rather smart in terms of thinking outside 'the box'; willing to converse on a higher level as it were]

This is the first.

Has anyone noticed a certain frequency with which emotional connection seems to take second place in sapiosexual relationships?

This may be just me, however in the past I have noticed that some seem tot think exhibitionist intellectual prowess is some substitute for powerful emotional intimacy.

It is only my opinion, however I do not consider intelligence to be a substitute for intimacy, nor ultimately even a means to it, but more of a tool [among many] with which it may be delivered.

In other words, you can be sentenced or held indefinitely, without stated cause, if you are declared a threat to security; and once you are, no proof need be given.

I've long thought that preparing food for someone else is in many ways an intimate act. When we cook for someone, we're giving them what they need to survive, fulfilling a biological need. Sapiosexuality (my definition, as a satisfactory one does not currently exist) - n. Of or pertaining to attraction or sexually arousal by intelligence and its use.

First, let me say how happy I am that you found your way here. This serves to confirm for me that I'm not the only cerebraphile out there.
I suppose the first order of business is to get a photograph up. Please add a few of your own, and I'll select one to represent the tribe.
In the meantime, welcome. I'll post more soon.

What is something that no one would guess by looking at you or in brief interactions but you wish they could figure out about you right off the bat as it might just be the best thing about you?

That texture, that amazing thing that takes a while for people to get to and you would never put a marketing campaign out to wing them that way to grasp it.

The topic of "porn" has been discussed ad nauseum, but it did raise a question for me. What is sexy?
What do you find sexy? Is "sexy" different than attractive? Do you believe that what arouses your interest in a potential mate differs greatly from the rest of the herd? Can there be purely cerebral attraction? Does any of this matter?
Am I engaging in mental masturbation yet AGAIN?!? ;o)

As self-described sapiophiles, it falls upon us to establish our standards. Don't fuck it up! :oP

I will, in all likelihood, offer my own thoughts on this one shortly.

I was hanging out with Jacques Treatment on Monday and he proposed the following game. I was already going to share it with you folks, but since he posted it so succinctly on another tribe we're both members of, I'll just copy/paste it here.
